Valmet Oyj: will supply the new IntelliJet V hydraulic head box to Andhra Paper Ltd. in India

Valmet will supply a new IntelliJet V hydraulic head box to Andhra Paper Ltd. for its Kadiyam plant in India. The commissioning of the equipment is scheduled for the third quarter of 2022.

The order is included in Valmet orders received in the fourth quarter of 2021. The amount of the order will not be disclosed.

“Andhra Paper selected the IntelliJet V headbox because of its compact design, adaptability to existing factory environments and processes, and quick setup and start-up. These features will help ensure targeted improvements in production and good quality as soon as possible after start-up, ”says Mr. Anish T Mathew, Commercial Director & CFO, Andhra Paper.

“The key to the headbox design is a high energy tube bank that provides a high and uniform pressure drop, which produces a constant flow from pond to pond. The tube bank uses expansion tubes with a converging outlet which accelerates the flow and gives a uniform flow with equal volume from edge to edge, ”says Varun Jain, Director, India Region, Valmet.

Valmet delivery details

Valmet’s delivery includes the design, supply, construction and commissioning of the new IntelliJet V hydraulic head box for the Andhra Paper PM3 at the Kadiyam plant. The operation of the IntelliJet V hydraulic headbox has two distinct characteristics: high turbulence and controllability. The tube bank provides high turbulence which is attributed to fiber dispersion and flow distribution while the controllability of final flow activity resides in the nozzle. This is achieved by optimizing turbulence, controlling the flow profile and controlling the distribution angle, which lead to quality fiber dispersion, uniform cross flow and fiber orientation.

After assembling the IntelliJet V headbox, PM3 will mainly produce writing and printing paper (kraft paper if needed) with a weight range of 40 to 120 g / m2 and with a maximum speed of 850 m / min.
