Komatsu expands breaker offering with launch of new V series
Komatsu introduces a new line of hydraulic hammers: the JMHB-V series of hammers, or “V Series”. Currently, the company offers two models, offering compatibility with its PC210 excavator up to its PC490.
The V series breakers feature 100% hydraulic release, fully automatic variable speed and high output ratio. Additionally, according to Komatsu, these new hammers will help customers achieve excellent impact energy and performance in a variety of demolition applications.
Efficiency and self-variability
With minimal wasted energy and higher operating efficiency, the 100% hydraulic Komatsu V-Series breakers modulate their force and impact frequency with up to 16 working positions to meet the demands of an application. Additionally, the circuit breakers feature an energy-saving recovery valve that recovers energy to improve efficiency.
Depending on the hardness of the application, the V-Series breakers automatically select the correct stroke length and speed. Thus, hammers can achieve high production efficiency, with little wasted impact energy.
Standard features promoting longevity
Komatsu V-Series breakers come standard with automatic lubrication, advanced blank shot protection, swivel hose connections and a rugged housing.
In terms of durability, the machine’s shock-absorbing upper and lower suspensions can help reduce the risk of cracking shovel booms and breaker housings. In addition, the standard automatic lubrication function can help guard against contamination caused by dust and debris.

Limit vibrations and noise
According to Komatsu, the V-Series suspensions — featuring rubber / poly components — help absorb shock and reduce vibration through the boom.
Additionally, by completely enclosing the soundproof enclosures, Komatsu aims to reduce noise generation compared to open style circuit breakers. Thus, providing customers with a solution to meet the ordinances on noise in urban environments.
To support regular hammer maintenance, Komatsu includes inspection kits and gauges to measure wear on critical components. Additionally, these hammers are backed by Komatsu North America’s Attachments Division, a dedicated hydraulic attachment sales and service team that supports Komatsu distributors. According to Komatsu, these specialists have factory training and experience in installation, operation, maintenance and rebuilding.
